William Wallace (1768-1843) war ein schottischer Mathematiker und Astronom, der den Pantograf erfand. 1799 entdeckte er die Simson-Gerade, die irrtümlicherweise Robert Simson zugeschrieben wurde, und 1807 bewies er eine Aussage über flächengleiche Polygone, die heute als Satz von Wallace–Bolyai–Gerwien bekannt ist. 1804 wurde er zum Mitglied der Royal Society of Edinburgh gewählt.
