Erste Ausgabe. – Hirschberg VI, § 1145, Nr. 3; Becker Coll. 26.2; Albert/Norton 107. – Auberts ’richly illustrated ‚Physiology of the retina‘ describes physiological elements of vision, including the senses of light, color, and space, as well as binocular and stereoscopic vision’ (Becker). – ‚The phenomena of dark and light adaption were not well understood until Aubert took them in hand 1865… and Aubert accomplished the first thorough experimental measurement of the zonal changes (of the retina)‘ (Boring, Hist. of exp. psychology, S. 103-104). – ’More nearly a piece of the ‚new‘ psychology, he was noted for his basic research on visual adaption, and on indirect vision, the demonstration that Weber’s fraction in vision varies in intensity…’ (Boring 422). – Hermann Rudolf Aubert (1826-92) promovierte 1850 in Berlin und lehrte Medizin an der Universität Breslau. Später übernahm er eine Professur für Physiologie an der Universität Rostock, deren Rektor er wurde. – Titel mit Bibliotheks- und Besitzerstempel sowie gering fleckig. Inhaltsverzeichnis teils stärker fleckig, die S. XII und 1 an einer Stelle im Text zusammengeklebt. Gelegentlich schwach stock- bzw. fingerfleckig.
